Pastor Untung has a wife, Ivany and two children– daughter Aletheia Graciella (15) and son Axel Jeconiah (14). He is from Bandung, West Java. Pastor Untung got his theological education at Duta Wacana Theological Seminary in Yogyakarta and his doctorate at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in Boston, MA. He also has an MBA focused on Human Resources and Development from San Juan de Letran Calamba, Philipine.
Both pastor Untung and his wife Ivany have a passion for ministry. Ivany is active in the church, especially as a children Sunday school teacher. Her calling/passion is to prepare and to teach children to be good Christians. She is almost finished with her Masters degree in Christian Education at the Institute of Theology Tiranus, Bandung.
After graduating in 1990, Pastor Untung served in GKI (Gereja Kristen Indonesia, The Indonesian Christian Church) as a congregational pastor until 2002. In 2002, he was assigned as the executive director of a ministry to help broaden Biblical messaging through electronic and printed media working with the Back to God Ministry International (BTGMI) until 2013. The mission of BTGMI is to proclaim the Gospel through media (television, radio, Internet and publishing). He led a staff of 17 to produce 6 radio programs in Bahasa Indonesia. They also produced 8 radio programs in Tribal languages (Jawa, Sunda, Toraja, Bali, Dayak Ngaju, Batak Toba, Tolaki, Minang). In addition, they produced 2 TV programs Gema Kasih Indonesia (30 minutes) and Lentera (3 minutes). They published 5 different devotional booklets for children, teenagers, youth, adult and senior citizens. They visited very remote areas to train local leaders as the Coordinators of Listener Community (CLC). The CLCs build a community and lead people to listen to the radio programs and follow up those people to know about Jesus Christ as Savior. In pastor Untung’s time as the director, the ministry has trained more than 250 CLCs. Some of those communities have become independent churches and some branches of local churches.
Pastor Untung just finished his Doctorate at Gordon Conwell Seminary in 2014. He is now working with a multi-media ministry that reaches out to the Middle East. He and his wife and family are very excited about moving to Houston.
